Brakes Scotland Game For Highland Venison
Highland Game in Dundee is gearing up for a busy venison season with new customer, Brakes Scotland adding four venison lines to their Scottish product range.
September sees the start of game season and with the health benefits of venison mentioned as a major factor for the increase in popularity, Highland Game are busy preparing their factory and butchers ahead of an October launch with Brakes Scotland.
Since Highland Game was founded in 1997, venison was not widely consumed in the UK, in fact just 5% of venison produced in the UK was consumed domestically, with 95% exported mainly to France and Germany. Highland Game believed that if it could convince people that venison was a tasty, healthy, safe and affordable meat, it could change perception and increase consumption levels at home. Today, Highland Game has tripled in size predominantly down to close working partnerships with multiple retailers.

Containing more iron than other red meats, but less than half the fat of beef and even less fat than chicken, Highland Game venison also benefits from low food miles, as the venison is sourced from Scotland. Highland Game work closely with a variety of supply partners including the Forestry Commission, Estate Owners, Factors, Game Keepers and Recreational Stalkers in order to achieve a consistently superior quality venison product.
